29 March 2023: MAIT partnered with the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Government of India and Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), for the brainstorming session for Augmenting E-Waste Management Awareness in the masses.
From the session moderated by the MAIT Environment committee Chair Raj Sahu, the following recommendations emerged:
1. Awareness and promotion of High
Energy Efficient Electronics and Electrical(EEE) products to reduce E-waste. Regulatory bodies can make it mandatory.
2. E-Waste awareness to be included in Schools, Colleges, and technical institutions.
3. Reward and penalties schemes can be implemented for responsible and irresponsible e-waste disposal.
5. Mission LiFE could be the top priority under G20 deliberations.
6. Incentivizing the informal sector to move towards formalising the business through a less burdening administrative process into E-Waste management.
